Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Özer Arkan got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Galatasaray FC's goalkeeper Mesut Sökmener, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Özer Arkan in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mesut Sökmener prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mesut Sökmener showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Özer Arkan in the 16th minute of the match. Korcan Sadik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mesut Sökmener having to interfere. In the 20th minute Özer Arkan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mesut Sökmener saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mesut Sökmener stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Özer Arkan's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Korcan Sadik in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mesut Sökmener prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Alpay Tolgay came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Galatasaray FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alpay Tolgay couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Galatasaray FC's goalkeeper Mesut Sökmener, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gediz's Korcan Sadik got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alpay Tolgay to strike the kick off in the second half. Mesut Sökmener stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Özer Arkan's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. A collision led to Gediz getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Serbülent Yafes hit a great ball. Özer Arkan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Korcan Sadik could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Mesut Sökmener made a huge save. The supporters of Gediz booed when Galatasaray FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hüseyin Can Tengiroğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Özer Arkan struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Mesut Sökmener didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gediz. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray FC's Hüseyin Can Tengiroğlu got a free kick in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Özer Arkan in the 64th minute of play forced Galatasaray FC's goalkeeper Mesut Sökmener to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mesut Sökmener made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Korcan Sadik sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Korcan Sadik got free with Mesut Sökmener in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Serbülent Yafes fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gediz's protests and gave Serbülent Yafes a yellow card for diving instead. Serbülent Yafes kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Gediz:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Galatasaray FC:s goal. In the 72nd minute there was a penalty for Galatasaray FC. Halil Can Başarman stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ahmet Koralp Resulhan. 1-0. During the 76th minute of the match Serbülent Yafes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Serbülent Yafes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Gediz getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Serbülent Yafes hit a great ball. In the 79th minute Arif Çelebi Akasoy suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. If Korcan Sadik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mesut Sökmener showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özer Arkan, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Korcan Sadik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Mesut Sökmener tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Özer Arkan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
