Spectators: 7163 (Terracing: 5406, Seating: 1657, VIP seats: 100) Sabri Geylanoğlu started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Armağan Güler scored 1-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cevher Ağaverdi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 15th minute Feridun Aktaşlı shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cevher Ağaverdi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cevher Ağaverdi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gürcan Peykan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute, Sabri Geylanoğlu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erkan Patlar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. FENERBAHÇE's Erkan Patlar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Utkan Yürük in the 26th minute of play. Cevher Ağaverdi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gürcan Peykan in the 31st minute of the match. 32 minutes into the game, Feridun Aktaşlı recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cevher Ağaverdi. Feridun Aktaşlı showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. After a rather tough play, FENERBAHÇE's Macit Polatkılıç got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 46th minute, Ömer Rıza Elçibey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gürcan Peykan was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sabri Geylanoğlu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Erkan Patlar, 3-2. After a rather tough play, Sakaryaspor sk's Mustafa Hamit Müşfik got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute Cuma Reha suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 56 minutes, Mustafa Hamit Müşfik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sakaryaspor sk and the FENERBAHÇE players grew even worse after the yellow card. Erkan Patlar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gürcan Peykan took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cevher Ağaverdi. Cevher Ağaverdi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Danış Ataergin in the 73rd minute of play forced FENERBAHÇE's goalkeeper Erkan Patlar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gürcan Peykan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cevher Ağaverdi having to interfere. Gürcan Peykan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cevher Ağaverdi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. When Macit Polatkılıç came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the FENERBAHÇE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Macit Polatkılıç couldn't finish the play.
