The supporters of Altay booed when Ercis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Çelik Günay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Necip Fazıl Tekdoğan kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ercis's zone, Şener Masum stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Şenol Koçyiğit came out of the goal and Şener Masum tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Şener Masum fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şenol Koçyiğit having to interfere. Şenol Koçyiğit took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Şener Masum, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Altay getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Ceyhun Temizsoy hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Ercis's Batı Fırıncıoğlu tried to score from far away in the 24th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sarper Sırat in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruhi Sayraç prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 30 minutes into the match, Sarper Sırat had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruhi Sayraç. Altay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sarper Sırat was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Necip Fazıl Tekdoğan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruhi Sayraç having to interfere. 37 minutes into the game, Sait Onursay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Ruhi Sayraç was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ruhi Sayraç took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sait Onursay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ercis's goalkeeper Şenol Koçyiğit, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Altay defense, Sarper Sırat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruhi Sayraç. The Altay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruhi Sayraç should have stopped the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abdi Saygın Hastimur to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Altay's goal looked a bit too open when Sait Onursay came free, but Ruhi Sayraç reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute, Altay's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Necip Fazıl Tekdoğan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Şenol Koçyiğit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bahri Sertel in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Çağatay Vecih in the 64th minute of play forced Altay's goalkeeper Ruhi Sayraç to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abdi Saygın Hastimur struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Şenol Koçyiğit didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Altay. In the 66th minute, Bahri Sertel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Altay's goalkeeper Ruhi Sayraç had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sarper Sırat. Abdi Saygın Hastimur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şenol Koçyiğit having to interfere. After 71 minutes, Şener Masum made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Ercis's Şenol Koçyiğit tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 74 played minutes Altay got a freekick which was hit by Bahri Sertel. With a little luck, Altay's Ruhi Sayraç got control of the ball when Sarper Sırat tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Ercis getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Necip Fazıl Tekdoğan hit a great ball. A hard shot 82 in the game by Sarper Sırat from a close distance when the talented Ruhi Sayraç managed to make a qualified save. Altay's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sait Onursay in the 87th minute of play forced Altay's goalkeeper Ruhi Sayraç to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Ercis getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Sait Onursay hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ercis eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
