Ahmet Davut Ekşioğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reese Green in the 18th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Nihat Kahveci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ahmet Davut Ekşioğlu was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After the first half Trabzonspor were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nihat Kahveci to make the kick off. Nihat Kahveci's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ahmet Davut Ekşioğlu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. Koçovalılar's Ahmet Davut Ekşioğlu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Koçovalılar from getting a goal against them. After 85 played minutes Koçovalılar got a freekick which was hit by Uğur Özaydın. Trabzonspor's Arslan İmge was substituted for Güner Özçevik. In the 87th minute, Uğur Özaydın hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 90 minutes into the game, Trabzonspor's Hakkı Onur Ceri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ahmet Davut Ekşioğlu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Trabzonspor's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
