Spectators: 7300 (Terracing: 5511, Seating: 1689, VIP seats: 100) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Enginsu Yalgın kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Tahtakale's goal looked a bit too open when Enginsu Yalgın came free, but Abdullah İstanbul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Southampton FC's Ahmet Ceyhan Kınay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abdullah İstanbul narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Tahtakale's zone, Özdemir Berksoy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abdullah İstanbul came out of the goal and Özdemir Berksoy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 9 minutes into the game, Necmi Tamkoç was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tahtakale's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Southampton FC the free kick. In the 9th minute, Necmi Tamkoç hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute, Fedai Rical hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Southampton FC's Enginsu Yalgın in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Fedai Rical received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Abdullah İstanbul tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Korkutalp Aytolun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cezmi Muhlis, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 26 minutes Southampton FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Aycan Kurman who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Tahtakale's corner Aycan Kurman fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Korkutalp Aytolun quite easily take care of the ball. Korkutalp Aytolun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ersan Yorangil, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Abdullah İstanbul was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Enginsu Yalgın capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Enginsu Yalgın really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The supporters of Tahtakale booed when Southampton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ersan Yorangil made a kick off. Korkutalp Aytolun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cezmi Muhlis in the 53rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ersan Yorangil got free with Korkutalp Aytolun in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 57th match minute, Tahtakale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ersan Yorangil to maneuver through the defense. In the 62nd minute of the match, Cezmi Muhlis got a very nice opportunity to score, but Korkutalp Aytolun was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Mustafa Şenyaşar came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Southampton FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mustafa Şenyaşar couldn't finish the play. Gökberk Özgiray lost his temper 80 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 81st match minute, Tahtakale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gökberk Özgiray to maneuver through the defense. Tahtakale's Abdullah İstanbul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bulut Kadirsah in the 82nd minute of play. In the 90th minute Enginsu Yalgın shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdullah İstanbul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Tahtakale defense, Enginsu Yalgın kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abdullah İstanbul. The Tahtakale fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abdullah İstanbul should have stopped the shot. Abdullah İstanbul stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enginsu Yalgın's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. There was no doubt that Southampton FC were the better team. Southampton FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
