Mehmet Edip Taycan struck a weak shot in the 2nd minute. Halil İbrahim Şahsar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Istanbul. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lacin's goalkeeper Halil İbrahim Şahsar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Selçuk Balaban made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Saadettin İdris sent off a good shot on target. Günay Tufan hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Istanbul's Umur Tolgan got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Aydemir Tavil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rıfat Balatekin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Halil İbrahim Şahsar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. İslam Akçakaya kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Selçuk Balaban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aydemir Tavil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Umur Tolgan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Halil İbrahim Şahsar having to make a save. Lacin's Halil İbrahim Şahsar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rıfat Balatekin in the 36th minute of play. Mehmet Edip Taycan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Umur Tolgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umur Tolgan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Halil İbrahim Şahsar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mehmet Edip Taycan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Mehmet Edip Taycan came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Istanbul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mehmet Edip Taycan couldn't finish the play. In the 57th match minute, Lacin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Günay Tufan to maneuver through the defense. If Umur Tolgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Selçuk Balaban showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saadettin İdris in the 69th minute of the match. After 69 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Edip Taycan. After 72 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Istanbul! Yahya Türcan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Halil İbrahim Şahsar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Saadettin İdris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umur Tolgan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Halil İbrahim Şahsar having to make a save. Umur Tolgan's late challenge caught a Lacin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Umur Tolgan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th minute, Umur Tolgan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Umur Tolgan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mehmet Edip Taycan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Halil İbrahim Şahsar having to interfere. After 97 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by Yahya Türcan. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mehmet Edip Taycan during the 98th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mehmet Edip Taycan hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Berkan Akmeşe, 99 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Lacin could leave the field as winners, despite Istanbul having more of the ball for most of the match.
