Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mehmet Edip Taycan started the match with the kick off. Selçuk Balaban made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erol Revis in the 3rd minute of play. Umur Tolgan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdullah İstanbul having to interfere. After 7 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by Umur Tolgan. After 8 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by İslam Akçakaya. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ersan Yorangil sped through Istanbul's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Selçuk Balaban. After a defensive mix-up in Istanbul's zone, Erol Revis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Selçuk Balaban came out of the goal and Erol Revis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 22 minutes, Umur Tolgan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Istanbul and the Tahtakale players grew even worse after the yellow card. Umur Tolgan kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Necmi Tamkoç left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tahtakale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Rıfat Balatekin hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After 34 minutes of play, Tahtakale's Cezmi Muhlis made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Selçuk Balaban was left in no man's land by his defense there! Selçuk Balaban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ersan Yorangil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 41 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by Anıl Arda Orgen. In the 42nd minute, Aycan Kurman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezmi Muhlis in the 44th minute of play forced Istanbul's goalkeeper Selçuk Balaban to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tahtakale's Ersan Yorangil in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Istanbul's goalie prevented a goal. 47 minutes into the game, Tahtakale's Cezmi Muhlis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Selçuk Balaban made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ersan Yorangil made a kick off. Yahya Türcan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Abdullah İstanbul tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Cezmi Muhlis took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Selçuk Balaban to make any attempt to save it. 63 minutes into the game, Şentürk Olgunsu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Selçuk Balaban. Şentürk Olgunsu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. In the 66thth minute of the game Ersan Yorangil who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Istanbul's Selçuk Balaban was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Istanbul's Selçuk Balaban proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Istanbul from getting a goal against them. Ersan Yorangil in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Selçuk Balaban, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With an all-out effort, Tahtakale's Selçuk Balaban threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cezmi Muhlis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 73 played minutes Istanbul got a freekick which was hit by Öztürk Duha. In the 78th minute, Erol Revis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tahtakale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. When Rıfat Balatekin fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Istanbul's protests and gave Rıfat Balatekin a yellow card for diving instead. Rıfat Balatekin kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Necmi Tamkoç could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Selçuk Balaban made a huge save. 89 minutes into the match, Istanbul's goal looked a bit too open when Ersan Yorangil came free, but Selçuk Balaban reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tahtakale played a much better game than Istanbul and deserved their victory. The Istanbul players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
