Fevzi Okboğa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Talat Adak sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tahsin Kapar skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, LİVERPOOL's Ahmet Davut Cantez got a free kick in the 22nd minute. LİVERPOOL's Tahsin Kapar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melih Ayyıldız in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Yenal Özerol had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tahsin Kapar. LİVERPOOL's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yenal Özerol was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. İhsan Baykır received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Tahsin Kapar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Kubilay Terim was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LİVERPOOL's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ankaragücü the free kick. After 30 played minutes LİVERPOOL got a freekick which was hit by Kubilay Terim. In the 31st minute, İhsan Baykır got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 33 minutes, Atay Tezveren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LİVERPOOL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Atay Tezveren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mazhar Özerdim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tahsin Kapar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melih Ayyıldız in the 37th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Yenal Özerol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tahsin Kapar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Halil İbrahim Okkan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Tahsin Kapar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Atay Tezveren to strike the kick off in the second half. Fevzi Okboğa's late challenge caught a Ankaragücü's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fevzi Okboğa helped the player get up and apologised. After 59 played minutes LİVERPOOL got a freekick which was hit by Fevzi Okboğa. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Melih Ayyıldız managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ankaragücü's supporters rose to their feet, but Melih Ayyıldız was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tahsin Kapar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tahsin Kapar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yenal Özerol in the 68th minute of the match. After 69 played minutes Ankaragücü got a freekick which was hit by Talat Adak. 74 minutes into the game, LİVERPOOL's Kubilay Terim nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eray Baybora made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-6. Kubilay Terim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eray Baybora having to interfere. İhsan Baykır could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Tahsin Kapar made a huge save. 81 minutes into the match, LİVERPOOL's goal looked a bit too open when Yenal Özerol came free, but Tahsin Kapar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Halil İbrahim Okkan fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ankaragücü's protests and gave Halil İbrahim Okkan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of LİVERPOOL booed when Ankaragücü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Halil İbrahim Okkan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mazhar Özerdim took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eray Baybora. Eray Baybora dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-6. Melih Ayyıldız sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
