The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hüsnü Belen in the 3rd minute of play forced Bucaspor's goalkeeper Şansal Zabit to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 5th minute, Fikri Apaydın got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 6th minute, Demircan Tümenbay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abdi Başayoğlu made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Fikri Apaydın sent off a good shot on target. Samir Tekinay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Şansal Zabit read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Şansal Zabit showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samir Tekinay, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. When Macit Usbay fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bucaspor's protests and gave Macit Usbay a yellow card for diving instead. Macit Usbay kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Hüsnü Belen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merter's supporters rose to their feet, but Hüsnü Belen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Şansal Zabit breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fikri Apaydın could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Abdi Başayoğlu made a huge save. Şansal Zabit showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samir Tekinay in the 24th minute of the match. Samir Tekinay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Şansal Zabit tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Samir Tekinay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Şansal Zabit took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hüsnü Belen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Hüsnü Belen in the 36th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Samir Tekinay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Şansal Zabit tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hüsnü Belen in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Şansal Zabit prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Hüsnü Belen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şansal Zabit having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Bucaspor's goalkeeper Şansal Zabit had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Samir Tekinay. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hüsnü Belen in the 63rd minute of play forced Bucaspor's goalkeeper Şansal Zabit to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th match minute, Bucaspor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Özalp Durukan to maneuver through the defense. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Şansal Zabit successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hüsamettin Lütufkâr's late challenge caught a Merter's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hüsamettin Lütufkâr helped the player get up and apologised. Hüsamettin Lütufkâr hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Bucaspor's zone, Hüsnü Belen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Şansal Zabit came out of the goal and Hüsnü Belen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samir Tekinay's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 80thth minute, Şansal Zabit skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 83rd minute, Hüsnü Belen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Samir Tekinay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
