The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ziya Şahinter acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 4th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Akın Seyfi. If Ali Atıf Akdemir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ziya Şahinter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Haluk Uluöz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the game, Mehmet Darcan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FREKANS CLUP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GÖZTEPE the free kick. After 17 played minutes FREKANS CLUP got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Darcan. Sungur Sağlam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Şeray Sabir recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FREKANS CLUP's Mustafa Namık Bircan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bora Han Ceylan in the 28th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FREKANS CLUP's zone, Ali Atıf Akdemir stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mustafa Namık Bircan came out of the goal and Ali Atıf Akdemir tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Birol Yağızkan came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the GÖZTEPE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Birol Yağızkan couldn't finish the play. Güneş Mahmut recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Birol Yağızkan took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mustafa Namık Bircan. Mustafa Namık Bircan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Mustafa Namık Bircan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bora Han Ceylan in the 44th minute of play. 48 minutes into the match, GÖZTEPE's goalkeeper Ziya Şahinter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enis Tokalp. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ali Atıf Akdemir was the one to do the kick off. Sungur Sağlam struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Mustafa Namık Bircan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GÖZTEPE. Mustafa Namık Bircan made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Birol Yağızkan sent off a good shot on target. GÖZTEPE's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ali Atıf Akdemir in the 57th minute. Ali Atıf Akdemir made a great header on GÖZTEPE's corner, it was just that FREKANS CLUP's Mustafa Namık Bircan managed to reach the ball for a save. Ziya Şahinter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Atakan Rafetoğulları went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 64 minutes into the match, GÖZTEPE's goal looked a bit too open when Haluk Uluöz came free, but Ziya Şahinter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Birol Yağızkan struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Mustafa Namık Bircan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GÖZTEPE. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Şeray Sabir during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mustafa Namık Bircan made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Bora Han Ceylan sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 72 minutes, Sungur Sağlam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GÖZTEPE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sungur Sağlam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mustafa Namık Bircan came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by GÖZTEPE's Ali Atıf Akdemir. But to his dismay, Ali Atıf Akdemir quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After 80 minutes of play FREKANS CLUP's Şeray Sabir was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 81st match minute, FREKANS CLUP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şeray Sabir to maneuver through the defense. Bora Han Ceylan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Mustafa Namık Bircan made a huge save. Haluk Uluöz hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Sungur Sağlam blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mustafa Namık Bircan having to make a save. The supporters of GÖZTEPE booed when FREKANS CLUP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haluk Uluöz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ali Atıf Akdemir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mustafa Namık Bircan having to interfere. 87 minutes into the game, Samir Kuray was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FREKANS CLUP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GÖZTEPE the free kick. A collision led to FREKANS CLUP getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Samir Kuray hit a great ball. Birol Yağızkan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute Birol Yağızkan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustafa Namık Bircan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. GÖZTEPE's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
