LİVERPOOL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Çelik Turan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Şahap Canaydin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ahmet Balısoy fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Göztepe 1925's protests and gave Ahmet Balısoy a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th minute, Ahmet Balısoy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 13 minutes, Sungurhan Işılay mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Göztepe 1925 and the LİVERPOOL players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Göztepe 1925 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sungurhan Işılay to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, LİVERPOOL's Haşmet Özgen tried to score from far away in the 14th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute Çelik Turan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gürcan Tuygun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Haşmet Özgen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kerimhan Yaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hafız Ballı in the 21st minute of play. Gürcan Tuygun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Şahap Canaydin in the 25th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Hafız Ballı rounded LİVERPOOL's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Hafız Ballı sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, LİVERPOOL's Aras Boysel got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Şahap Canaydin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gürcan Tuygun. Göztepe 1925's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Şahap Canaydin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind LİVERPOOL's goalkeeper Kerimhan Yaman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Çelik Turan made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Göztepe 1925's zone, Çelik Turan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gürcan Tuygun came out of the goal and Çelik Turan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kerimhan Yaman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abayhan Geylanoğlu, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Çelik Turan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gürcan Tuygun having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, LİVERPOOL's Şahap Canaydin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gürcan Tuygun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. LİVERPOOL were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Göztepe 1925's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Haşmet Özgen took the corner. Hafız Ballı received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Kerimhan Yaman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
