The supporters of Battalgazi booed when Sporting Lizbon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şevket Vedatoğulları didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute Reha Okboğa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hakan Ünver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Lizbon's goalkeeper Hakan Ünver, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Servet Durkaya made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genco Taluy in the 15th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Battalgazi's Aşık Menderes got a free kick in the 19th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Sporting Lizbon's Aras Görkem Özkaya sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Servet Durkaya narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Reha Okboğa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hakan Ünver showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kutalp Yorgun, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Kutalp Yorgun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kutalp Yorgun in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hakan Ünver saved Sporting Lizbon from getting behind. Battalgazi's Kutalp Yorgun got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Battalgazi were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Genco Taluy was the one to do the kick off. Servet Durkaya made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genco Taluy in the 52nd minute of play. Reha Okboğa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reha Okboğa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hakan Ünver having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Lizbon's zone, Reha Okboğa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hakan Ünver came out of the goal and Reha Okboğa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kutalp Yorgun might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hakan Ünver. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kutalp Yorgun ran back to his position shaking his head. Hakan Ünver made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Reha Okboğa sent off a good shot on target. When Battalgazi's Kutalp Yorgun in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sporting Lizbon's goalie prevented a goal. In the 82nd minute, Sporting Lizbon's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Reha Okboğa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Şevket Vedatoğulları hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 86th match minute, Sporting Lizbon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yusuf Ziya Seralp to maneuver through the defense. Hakan Ünver made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Reha Okboğa sent off a good shot on target. Kutalp Yorgun struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Hakan Ünver didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Battalgazi. When Battalgazi's Kutalp Yorgun in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Battalgazi's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
