The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Ali Güralp Enginer came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Tekirdağ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ali Güralp Enginer couldn't finish the play. Kemal Alatay charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kemal Alatay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Mersin booed when Tekirdağ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kemal Alatay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ali Güralp Enginer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alpay Fazilet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ali Güralp Enginer in the 20th minute of the match. After 22 played minutes Mersin got a freekick which was hit by Yusuf Şener. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Güralp Enginer in the 23rd minute of play forced Mersin's goalkeeper Alpay Fazilet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vedat Yumus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ali Güralp Enginer scored 0-2 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alpay Fazilet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tekirdağ's Ali Güralp Enginer got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 34 minutes into the match, Mersin's goal looked a bit too open when Ali Güralp Enginer came free, but Alpay Fazilet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Ali Güralp Enginer notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Mersin's Alpay Fazilet. Alpay Fazilet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Mersin's defense didn't have a chance, in the 73rd minute, when Ali Güralp Enginer scored to the left of an out of position Alpay Fazilet, making the score, 0-4. Şensoy Tarhun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tekirdağ's Güray Urluk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cevdet Özge in the 82nd minute of play. Cevdet Özge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Güray Urluk having to interfere. If Vedat Yumus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ali Güralp Enginer came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Tekirdağ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ali Güralp Enginer couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Tekirdağ defense, Cevdet Özge kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Güray Urluk. The Tekirdağ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Güray Urluk should have stopped the shot. When the final whistle sounded Tekirdağ left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mersin.
