The supporters of SSFC booed when Erzurumspor 1968 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mustafa İzzet Murat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haldun Yastıkcığlu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Süruri Işık received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Bahtiyar Usare tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yalçın Onuk got free with Haldun Yastıkcığlu in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 23 minutes into the match, SSFC's Süruri Işık sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bahtiyar Usare narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Haldun Yastıkcığlu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peker Özinal in the 28th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, SSFC's goalkeeper Haldun Yastıkcığlu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Berkan Sabahaddin. In the 32nd minute, Bahtiyar Vakkasoğlu made a precise shot to the right of Haldun Yastıkcığlu. SSFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Bahadır Konuralp who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Haldun Yastıkcığlu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Erzurumspor 1968's zone, Nusret Urza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bahtiyar Usare came out of the goal and Nusret Urza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Akgün Hurmacı recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The Erzurumspor 1968 fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when Erzurumspor 1968's Bahadır Konuralp looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Bahadır Konuralp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Erzurumspor 1968's supporters rose to their feet, but Bahadır Konuralp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Haldun Yastıkcığlu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 78th minute, Türkeş Sağlamtürk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute of the match Erzurumspor 1968 got a corner. SSFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
