The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Balkanspor FK getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Ümit Uğurel hit a great ball. In the 6th match minute, Sariyahsi FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cihat Şamil to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute of the match Mehmet Bilge Bostancıoğlu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vacid Bağcı skillfully saved the ball. After 8 minutes, Tekin Tolunbay mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sariyahsi FK and the Balkanspor FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sariyahsi FK's Cem Yalçıner got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cem Yalçıner might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cenk Rıza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cem Yalçıner ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Balkanspor FK defense, Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cenk Rıza. The Balkanspor FK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cenk Rıza should have stopped the shot. After having played for 22 minutes, Kamuran Uçarer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balkanspor FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kamuran Uçarer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute, Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sariyahsi FK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Kamuran Uçarer scored 1-2 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vacid Bağcı, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Balkanspor FK's Ümit Uğurel slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vacid Bağcı. That made the score 2-2 after 35 minutes of play. After 40 minutes of play, Sariyahsi FK's Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cenk Rıza was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit to make the kick off. Sariyahsi FK were awarded a corner in the 58th minute after Balkanspor FK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cihat Şamil took the corner. The corner ended in Cihat Şamil almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Balkanspor FK's Cenk Rıza did a great save. Balkanspor FK's Cenk Rıza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit in the 68th minute of play. Cenk Rıza was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ahmet Göktuğ Akşit showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-4 in the 69 minute of play. The long shot by Ekber Tüzel in the 73rd minute really tested Cenk Rıza's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Sariyahsi FK booed when Balkanspor FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. İsmail Polatkan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sariyahsi FK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
