Murathan Ortaç fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ahmet Reha Civan having to interfere. Yüce Server blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ahmet Reha Civan having to make a save. 32 minutes into the game, Kutluay Özhan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FENERBAHÇE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Sayeban the free kick. 36 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's Yüce Server sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ahmet Reha Civan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Murathan Ortaç had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kutluay Özhan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Sayeban's zone, Yüce Server stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ahmet Reha Civan came out of the goal and Yüce Server tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute, Güngör Ongay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Yüce Server had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half FENERBAHÇE were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ahmet Reha Civan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murathan Ortaç in the 53rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Yüce Server managed to get in a good position for a shot. FENERBAHÇE's supporters rose to their feet, but Yüce Server was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ahmet Reha Civan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ahmet Reha Civan made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Murathan Ortaç sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's goal looked a bit too open when Behram Nasreddin came free, but Turan Oğuralp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 66 minutes, Murathan Ortaç managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FENERBAHÇE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murathan Ortaç was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yüce Server blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ahmet Reha Civan having to make a save. In the 81st minute, Behram Nasreddin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Turan Oğuralp was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 87thth minute of the game Murathan Ortaç who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fc Sayeban's Ahmet Reha Civan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
