The supporters of Mardin United booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vahit Şenol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ahmet Necdet Teoman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zikri Reşat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Mehmet Emin Rüşti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute Zikri Reşat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mehmet Emin Rüşti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 played minutes Fenerbahçe got a freekick which was hit by Muhittin Rafiz. Şenol Uğuş fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehmet Emin Rüşti having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zikri Reşat in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mehmet Emin Rüşti prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 28th match minute, Fenerbahçe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Latif Yaver to maneuver through the defense. 30 minutes into the game, Mardin United's Şenol Uğuş nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mehmet Emin Rüşti made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Şenol Uğuş received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Mehmet Emin Rüşti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

After 53 minutes, Hüseyin Turan Rafi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mardin United and the Fenerbahçe players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 53rd minute, Hüseyin Turan Rafi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cevahir Önateş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Şenol Uğuş in the 59th minute of play forced Fenerbahçe's goalkeeper Mehmet Emin Rüşti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Muhittin Rafiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Mardin United getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Abdi Saygın Üner hit a great ball. Latif Yaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alican Talaz having to interfere. Alican Talaz made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Muhittin Rafiz sent off a good shot on target. In a very dangerous position, a player in Fenerbahçe fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! Zikri Reşat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Mehmet Emin Rüşti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Muhittin Rafiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alican Talaz having to interfere. Mardin United's Zikri Reşat got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute Şenol Uğuş shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mehmet Emin Rüşti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 98 played minutes Fenerbahçe got a freekick which was hit by Muhittin Rafiz. Mardin United's Ahmet Necdet Teoman couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 99th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Fenerbahçe. Many of Fenerbahçe's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Fenerbahçe may have spent more time on the ball, but Mardin United were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
