In the 6th minute Erdal Keçecioğlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Güner Şinasi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erdal Keçecioğlu might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Güner Şinasi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erdal Keçecioğlu ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tuğrul Subahi in the 11th minute of play forced Esentepe's goalkeeper Güner Şinasi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gürol Ilıcan came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Esentepe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gürol Ilıcan couldn't finish the play.
