Esenkent İdman Yurdu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tacettin Genç was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Okaner Temizkan. After a defensive mix-up in Trabzonspor's zone, Asım Arif Sezmen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tacettin Genç came out of the goal and Asım Arif Sezmen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tacettin Genç made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asım Arif Sezmen in the 12th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Trabzonspor's Kerim Zorlu got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute Asım Arif Sezmen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tacettin Genç saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's Avni Şahkar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Şerif Şanalp narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Asım Arif Sezmen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ahmet Asım Yazgı had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Esenkent İdman Yurdu's İldeniz Neşit sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tacettin Genç narrowly saved just below the crossbar. İldeniz Neşit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tacettin Genç having to interfere. The Esenkent İdman Yurdu players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Trabzonspor were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ahmet Asım Yazgı made a kick off. Kerim Zorlu hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Uluç Işıklı was shown his second yellow card after 64 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Trabzonspor booed when Esenkent İdman Yurdu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Uluç Işıklı didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Avni Şahkar came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Trabzonspor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Avni Şahkar couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Esenkent İdman Yurdu defense, Avni Şahkar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Şerif Şanalp. The Esenkent İdman Yurdu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Şerif Şanalp should have stopped the shot.
