With a little luck, Ümitköy's Müjdat Ekşioğlu got control of the ball when Okanay Utman tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 17th minute, Burhanettin Haymanalı hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Galatasaray's Ferhat Atabey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hilmi Karasu in the 22nd minute of play. Ferhat Atabey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erdoğan Kutlucan in the 24th minute of play. The supporters of Ümitköy booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mustafa Cumhur Hüdayioğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Hilmi Karasu made a precise shot to the right of Ferhat Atabey. Galatasaray's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Ümitköy's Aycan Orhan got a free kick in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's Songurbey Türkmen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Müjdat Ekşioğlu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 45 minutes into the match, Ümitköy's goalkeeper Müjdat Ekşioğlu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Okanay Utman. After some careless play in the Ümitköy defense, Musa Ortun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Müjdat Ekşioğlu. The Ümitköy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Müjdat Ekşioğlu should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erdoğan Kutlucan was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erdoğan Kutlucan in the 54th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Ferhat Atabey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's Okanay Utman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Müjdat Ekşioğlu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Müjdat Ekşioğlu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Okanay Utman struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Müjdat Ekşioğlu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. Mustafa Necati Teber could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Ferhat Atabey made a huge save. 71 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Tolunay Ezelhan came free, but Ferhat Atabey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Çağan Geylan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute of the match Aycan Orhan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ferhat Atabey skillfully saved the ball. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Okanay Utman sped through Ümitköy's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Müjdat Ekşioğlu. Mustafa Cumhur Hüdayioğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Müjdat Ekşioğlu having to interfere. Ümitköy's Müjdat Ekşioğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Burhanettin Haymanalı in the 87th minute of play. In the 90th minute, Mustafa Cumhur Hüdayioğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Ümitköy's Aycan Orhan tried to score from far away in the 91st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Songurbey Türkmen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Müjdat Ekşioğlu. Ümitköy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Songurbey Türkmen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Galatasaray were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ümitköy for a fine match.
