The audience thought a goal was coming when Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu got free with Erhan İzgi in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 5 minutes into the match, Cesur Kerim notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gençlerbirliği FC's Atay Özçelik. Atay Özçelik was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Mustafa Ekrem Vefakar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 11 minutes, Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gençlerbirliği FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Republic of Fenerbahce's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Mustafa Emrah Turkay scored to the left of an out of position Erhan İzgi, making the score, 1-1. In the 17th minute Mustafa Ekrem Vefakar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Atay Özçelik saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Erhan İzgi managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Gençlerbirliği FC's Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 45th play minute Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Erhan İzgi. 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mustafa Ekrem Vefakar was the one to do the kick off. Republic of Fenerbahce's Erhan İzgi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mustafa Emrah Turkay in the 52nd minute of play. Erhan İzgi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Emrah Turkay in the 57th minute of play forced Republic of Fenerbahce's goalkeeper Erhan İzgi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erhan İzgi having to interfere. After 61 played minutes Republic of Fenerbahce got a freekick which was hit by Sungurbey Taha. Erhan İzgi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu in the 70th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Gençlerbirliği FC's Tolga Tanyıldız got a free kick in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Emrah Turkay in the 82nd minute of play forced Republic of Fenerbahce's goalkeeper Erhan İzgi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Abdi Mehmet Aynacıoğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mustafa Emrah Turkay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Erhan İzgi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Republic of Fenerbahce! For all the effort they put into the match, the Republic of Fenerbahce players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gençlerbirliği FC.
