Özal Ömürcan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kadim Okbudun, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. If Kadim Okbudun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 46 minutes, Türker Tokyay mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kocaelispor and the Kursunlu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Şehzade Toktuğ stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kursunlu's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Seyhun Tümerkan scored to the left of an out of position Mustafa Yaşar Kerem, making the score, 0-2. The audience was convinced that Seyhun Tümerkan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mustafa Yaşar Kerem was relentless in the 74th minute of the game.
