The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaffar Eyüpoğlu got free with Mesut Alkın in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Galatasaray's Gazanfer Sayın played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mustafa Haydar Ongunsu in the 24th minute of play. Rıfat Başkaya scored 1-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mesut Alkın, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Galatasaray's Gazanfer Sayın played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sadettin Tolun in the 28th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mustafa Haydar Ongunsu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Gazanfer Sayın tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mesut Alkın made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaffar Eyüpoğlu in the 44th minute of play. Mesut Alkın made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan in the 47th minute.

Sadettin Tolun was shown his second yellow card after 51 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 53 played minutes Kekova JK got a freekick which was hit by Tansu Hasanoğlu. Kekova JK's Mesut Alkın played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan in the 54th minute of play. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Kekova JK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kuddusî İrfanoğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kekova JK's Tansu Hasanoğlu got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kuddusî İrfanoğlu charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kuddusî İrfanoğlu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Kekova JK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tansu Hasanoğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 93 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Cihat Sönmez. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ali Berkant Lemi hit a great ball. If Mustafa Haydar Ongunsu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Galatasaray's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
