Azmi Perkin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Mustafa Emrah Alptekin came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Genclerbirliği fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mustafa Emrah Alptekin couldn't finish the play. Azmi Perkin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tugay Ekemen's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. If Ahmet Refik Kamuran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tugay Ekemen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute.
