Diego Caiado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Batuğ Taşkesen came out and tried to block the shot, but Diego Caiado slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 13th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafet Ilgınlı got free with Batuğ Taşkesen in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 26th minute, Barlas Göçer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Şafak Tolgan during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Şafak Tolgan kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Fenerbahçe's Atilla Kağan Hastimur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barlas Göçer in the 38th minute of play. In the 43rd match minute, Fenerbahçe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kutlualp Özbilek to maneuver through the defense. It was beautiful to see Beşiktaş's Onur Urza in action when he in the 44th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! When Beşiktaş's Engin Nurkan in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fenerbahçe's goalie prevented a goal. In the 49th minute of the match Beşiktaş got a corner. Fenerbahçe's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Paşa Ali Mahçupyan ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Beşiktaş's Paşa Ali Mahçupyan to fire away a dangerous shot which Atilla Kağan Hastimur despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Diego Caiado was the one to do the kick off. Batuğ Taşkesen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafet Ilgınlı's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arif Egemen Kirmanşah during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Beşiktaş booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arif Egemen Kirmanşah didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 64th minute of the match Barlas Göçer completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Barlas Göçer a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 65 played minutes Beşiktaş got a freekick which was hit by Barlas Göçer. After a rather tough play, Beşiktaş's Paşa Ali Mahçupyan got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute of the match Rafet Ilgınlı sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Batuğ Taşkesen skillfully saved the ball. When Aysan Osman fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Beşiktaş's protests and gave Aysan Osman a yellow card for diving instead. The Fenerbahçe fans cheered their team off the field, for while Beşiktaş had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
