The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by İlkan Başeski during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Afyon İdman Yurdu's Oswaldo Dionísio got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oswaldo Dionísio in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Songurbey Özekan saved GALATASARAY from getting behind. Kamer Uram recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Oswaldo Dionísio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Songurbey Özekan. GALATASARAY's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oswaldo Dionísio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After some careless play in the GALATASARAY defense, Kamer Uram kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Songurbey Özekan. The GALATASARAY fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Songurbey Özekan should have stopped the shot. Kamer Uram fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Songurbey Özekan having to interfere. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Songurbey Özekan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 31 minutes into the game, Ahmet Ali Sezer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GALATASARAY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Afyon İdman Yurdu the free kick. After 31 played minutes GALATASARAY got a freekick which was hit by Ahmet Ali Sezer. After 37 minutes of play, Afyon İdman Yurdu's Oswaldo Dionísio made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Songurbey Özekan was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Mehmet Fatih Yalım in the 41st minute of play forced GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Songurbey Özekan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Songurbey Özekan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo Dionísio in the 44th minute of the match. Songurbey Özekan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Dionísio in the 46th minute of play.

The wind increased when İldeniz Özbekkan made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Afyon İdman Yurdu booed when GALATASARAY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arcan Tumbay didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Oswaldo Dionísio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Afyon İdman Yurdu's supporters rose to their feet, but Oswaldo Dionísio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Songurbey Özekan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. GALATASARAY's Songurbey Özekan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Dionísio in the 53rd minute of play. Songurbey Özekan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo Dionísio in the 55th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Songurbey Özekan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oswaldo Dionísio. If Kamer Uram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GALATASARAY's Songurbey Özekan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save GALATASARAY from getting a goal against them. Oswaldo Dionísio in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Songurbey Özekan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With his leg Songurbey Özekan managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when Afyon İdman Yurdu's Oswaldo Dionísio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 77 minutes into the match, Oswaldo Dionísio notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of GALATASARAY's Songurbey Özekan. Songurbey Özekan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Mehmet Fatih Yalım took a quick shot and it went in 0-6 without a chance for Songurbey Özekan to make any attempt to save it. 91 minutes into the match, GALATASARAY's goal looked a bit too open when Hüsamettin Refi came free, but Songurbey Özekan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in GALATASARAY's zone, Oswaldo Dionísio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Songurbey Özekan came out of the goal and Oswaldo Dionísio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Afyon İdman Yurdu left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GALATASARAY.
