The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 10 minutes into the game, one of İzmir FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Demir Arısal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cengiz Doğulu in the 19th minute of play. Barbaros Başöz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Adnan Uğurtan made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in İzmir FC's zone, Mehmet Halis Tekinay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Demir Arısal came out of the goal and Mehmet Halis Tekinay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mehmet Halis Tekinay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Demir Arısal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
