The audience was convinced that Fabinho Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Çağdaş Özgun was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Cesur Polatkılıç showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alaaddin Akyel in the 41st minute of the match. Cesur Polatkılıç didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alaaddin Akyel went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 66th minute of the match, Fabinho Pombal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Çağdaş Özgun saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The crowd rose to their feet as Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK FK's Kadri Göçmen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Çağdaş Özgun. That made the score 1-1 after 71 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Fabinho Pombal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabinho Pombal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Çağdaş Özgun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabinho Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Çağdaş Özgun having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Fabinho Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Fabinho Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
