Haluk Makul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sancarbey Kunter made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Raik Tamer sent off a good shot on target. Raik Tamer might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sancarbey Kunter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raik Tamer ran back to his position shaking his head. Raik Tamer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Sancarbey Kunter made a huge save. In the 33rd minute, Raik Tamer made a precise shot to the right of Sancarbey Kunter. Real Madrid's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. A collision led to Real Madrid getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Mustafa Hakan Oğuzbay hit a great ball. Raik Tamer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Real Madrid's Sancarbey Kunter got control of the ball when Raik Tamer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raik Tamer struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Sancarbey Kunter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GALATASARAY. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raik Tamer in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sancarbey Kunter saved Real Madrid from getting behind. Real Madrid's Mustafa Hakan Oğuzbay got his second yellow card of the match in the 55th minute. The referee ordered Mustafa Hakan Oğuzbay off the ground. Güven Şensal's late challenge caught a Real Madrid's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
