Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ertan Ucatekin in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Habib Akgüneş saved Denizlispor from getting behind. In the 16th minute, Ertan Ucatekin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. İlkan Davutoğlu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Hıdır Taykara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ahmet Koralp İzgü got free with Hıdır Taykara in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Fenerbahçe booed when Denizlispor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baycan Özarkın didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st match minute, Denizlispor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yahya Kemal Palabıyık to maneuver through the defense. After 32 played minutes, Fenerbahçe's Alpertunga Balbay shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Habib Akgüneş came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fenerbahçe reached it. Yahya Kemal Palabıyık kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Denizlispor's zone, Sezgin Arslanşah stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Habib Akgüneş came out of the goal and Sezgin Arslanşah tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sezgin Arslanşah got in the 37th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Habib Akgüneş handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Denizlispor's goal looked a bit too open when Sezgin Arslanşah came free, but Habib Akgüneş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Ertan Ucatekin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fenerbahçe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ertan Ucatekin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Yahya Kemal Palabıyık during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 47th minute, Sezgin Arslanşah ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Habib Akgüneş was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half Fenerbahçe were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ayberk Teber to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Sezgin Arslanşah kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Habib Akgüneş. That made the score 0-2 in the 54 minute of play. Fenerbahçe's Ertan Ucatekin got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sezgin Arslanşah received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Habib Akgüneş tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 68 minutes into the game, Sezgin Arslanşah lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated Habib Akgüneş. Ertan Ucatekin struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Habib Akgüneş didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fenerbahçe. Sezgin Arslanşah fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Habib Akgüneş having to interfere. A collision led to Fenerbahçe getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Ali Atıf Polathan hit a great ball. When Fazlı Duran fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fenerbahçe's protests and gave Fazlı Duran a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th match minute, Fenerbahçe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fazlı Duran to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Fenerbahçe eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
