Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Hilmi Ayyıldız started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th minute, Başaran Mahşer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mehmet Oğuz Özerk was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 10th minute, Ahmet Bülent Sezmen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. ZONGULDAK's Mehmet Oğuz Özerk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Başaran Mahşer in the 12th minute of play. After 13 played minutes Van got a freekick which was hit by Kutay Fırat. A collision led to Van getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Nizam İlkcan hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as ZONGULDAK's Kubilay Tercan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Asım Arif Şimşektürk. That made the score 1-1 after 17 minutes of play. 20 minutes into the match, ZONGULDAK's Mehmet Hakkı Dengizer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Asım Arif Şimşektürk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 21 minutes into the game, Kubilay Tercan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Asım Arif Şimşektürk was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 23rd minute, Mehmet Hakkı Dengizer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nizam İlkcan's late challenge caught a ZONGULDAK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nizam İlkcan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th minute, Nizam İlkcan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Van's zone, Ahmet Hamdi Tuğkun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Asım Arif Şimşektürk came out of the goal and Ahmet Hamdi Tuğkun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kubilay Tercan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Asım Arif Şimşektürk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Kubilay Tercan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Asım Arif Şimşektürk made a huge save. Yusuf Ziya Özsahin might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Asım Arif Şimşektürk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yusuf Ziya Özsahin ran back to his position shaking his head. 43 minutes into the match, ZONGULDAK's goal looked a bit too open when Hilmi Ayyıldız came free, but Mehmet Oğuz Özerk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kubilay Tercan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kubilay Tercan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kubilay Tercan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 58 played minutes Van got a freekick which was hit by Nizam İlkcan. 63 minutes into the match, Van's goal looked a bit too open when Kubilay Tercan came free, but Asım Arif Şimşektürk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd match minute, Van was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamdi Özdener to maneuver through the defense. Kubilay Tercan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Asım Arif Şimşektürk having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Kubilay Tercan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Asım Arif Şimşektürk. Van's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kubilay Tercan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Kubilay Tercan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Asım Arif Şimşektürk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ahmet Hamdi Tuğkun came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the ZONGULDAK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ahmet Hamdi Tuğkun couldn't finish the play. When Rıfat Boranalp fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Van's protests and gave Rıfat Boranalp a yellow card for diving instead. Mehmet Hakkı Dengizer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Asım Arif Şimşektürk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Mehmet Hakkı Dengizer kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th minute of the match Kutay Fırat sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mehmet Oğuz Özerk skillfully saved the ball. Mehmet Oğuz Özerk made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Hilmi Ayyıldız sent off a good shot on target. Kubilay Tercan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Asım Arif Şimşektürk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hilmi Ayyıldız had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Van booed when ZONGULDAK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Bülent Sezmen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Van's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
