Turan Coşan came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray's İlhan Mansız. But to his dismay, İlhan Mansız quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Besim Kutsalan took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Acun Omay to make any attempt to save it. 16 minutes into the match, Karpuzlu's goal looked a bit too open when Aybek Seçkiner came free, but Turan Coşan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ahmet Efe Baykal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Acun Omay made a huge save. Acun Omay made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Arda Göksel Bozdoğan sent off a good shot on target. Turan Coşan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wesley de Lima in the 27th minute of the match. The supporters of Karpuzlu booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erkut Temizel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Galatasaray fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 96 minutes into the game, Berker Rıza Şikel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galatasaray's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Karpuzlu the free kick. In the 97th match minute, Galatasaray was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berker Rıza Şikel to maneuver through the defense. In the 98th minute of the match Arda Süphan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Acun Omay showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Galatasaray had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
