Spectators: 7853 (Terracing: 5891, Seating: 1806, VIP seats: 156) ATLAS's Ivan Malmgren started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Çetin Elçibey's late challenge caught a ATLAS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Çetin Elçibey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 7th minute, Çetin Elçibey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Malmgren in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Semail Kılıçer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. ATLAS's İlyas Tolga Karadeniz managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Alptuğ Behram in the 11 minute of the game. If Ivan Malmgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Osman Ali Sağlam hit a great ball. Çetin Elçibey got his second yellow card in the match during the 25th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 25 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Çetin Elçibey. If Dries Tevreden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Rıfat Mithat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Semail Kılıçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the game, Ivan Malmgren cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Semail Kılıçer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Semail Kılıçer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Malmgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Newells Old Boys's Serter Gökyüzü got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Semail Kılıçer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dries Tevreden in the 39th minute of the match. Dries Tevreden scored 0-3 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Semail Kılıçer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ivan Malmgren hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match.

The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when ATLAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emirşah Pamiroğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lokman Sağlamtürk struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Binali Özgener didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newells Old Boys. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Zikri Temizcan hit a great ball. Ivan Malmgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When ATLAS's Ivan Malmgren in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newells Old Boys's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Ivan Malmgren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Semail Kılıçer was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. In the 68th minute Lokman Sağlamtürk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Binali Özgener saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute ATLAS were awarded a corner. Klas Billström went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led ATLAS's Klas Billström to fire away a dangerous shot which Semail Kılıçer despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Semail Kılıçer came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by ATLAS's Ivan Malmgren. But to his dismay, Ivan Malmgren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 77th minute Ivan Malmgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Semail Kılıçer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute, ATLAS's Ivan Malmgren ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Semail Kılıçer. Semail Kılıçer yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. İlyas Tolga Karadeniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. ATLAS played a much better game than Newells Old Boys and deserved their victory. The Newells Old Boys players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
