The penalty shot was made by Dirk Kuijt, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AdanaDemirSpor's Abbas Acarer. 0-3. 27 minutes into the match, AdanaDemirSpor's goal looked a bit too open when Kenny N'Diaye came free, but Abbas Acarer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th minute Kenny N'Diaye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abbas Acarer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of AdanaDemirSpor booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alptuğ Behram didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Abbas Acarer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenny N'Diaye's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Abbas Acarer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny N'Diaye in the 59th minute of the match. A hard shot 60 in the game by Kenny N'Diaye from a close distance when the talented Abbas Acarer managed to make a qualified save. AdanaDemirSpor's players were relieved. Kenny N'Diaye sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abbas Acarer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenny N'Diaye, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 64 minutes into the match, Lokman Sağlamtürk notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of AdanaDemirSpor's Abbas Acarer. Abbas Acarer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Çetin Elçibey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. After some careless play in the AdanaDemirSpor defense, Lokman Sağlamtürk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abbas Acarer. The AdanaDemirSpor fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abbas Acarer should have stopped the shot. After 89 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Alptuğ Behram. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serter Gökyüzü in the 93rd minute of play forced AdanaDemirSpor's goalkeeper Abbas Acarer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abbas Acarer made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Lokman Sağlamtürk sent off a good shot on target. Newells Old Boys's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
