In the 9th minute Göktürk Gemici shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdi Saygın Özerek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Göktürk Gemici took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abdi Saygın Özerek. Abdi Saygın Özerek dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Aybar Ülmen made in the 20th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Bornova's Nebi İzgü. 22 minutes into the match, Göktürk Gemici had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abdi Saygın Özerek. Bornova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Göktürk Gemici was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Aybar Ülmen hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the match, Tanju Derelioğlu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abdi Saygın Özerek. Bornova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tanju Derelioğlu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Bornova's Abdi Saygın Özerek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Göktürk Gemici in the 39th minute of play. Abdi Saygın Özerek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mehmet Emin Tolgunay in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Atilla Tarkan Okatay to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Akcakent getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Tanju Derelioğlu hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Akcakent's Baha Oykan got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Abdi Saygın Özerek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mehmet Emin Tolgunay in the 58th minute. Bornova's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Antonio Orlo scored to the left of an out of position Abdi Saygın Özerek, making the score, 0-5. Aybar Ülmen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdi Saygın Özerek having to interfere. 69 minutes into the game, Tanju Derelioğlu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Abdi Saygın Özerek. Tanju Derelioğlu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mehmet Emin Tolgunay got free with Abdi Saygın Özerek in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Abdi Saygın Özerek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Orlo, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Bornova's goal looked a bit too open when Göktürk Gemici came free, but Abdi Saygın Özerek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 83 played minutes Göktürk Gemici rounded Bornova's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-7. After some careless play in the Bornova defense, Göktürk Gemici kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abdi Saygın Özerek. The Bornova fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abdi Saygın Özerek should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Göktürk Gemici took a quick shot and it went in 0-9 without a chance for Abdi Saygın Özerek to make any attempt to save it. Akcakent's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
