Frits Lenoir came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Kocaelispor's Hilmi Serafet. But to his dismay, Hilmi Serafet quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 25th match minute, Indiana University was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mustafa Kemal Akman to maneuver through the defense. Indiana University's Frits Lenoir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hilmi Serafet in the 30th minute of play. Hilmi Serafet took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frits Lenoir. Frits Lenoir dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Henrik Devold's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frits Lenoir read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Indiana University's Frits Lenoir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lázaro Mourato in the 36th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Indiana University's goal looked a bit too open when Lázaro Mourato came free, but Frits Lenoir reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frits Lenoir took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lázaro Mourato, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Yiğit Haşmetli made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Indiana University's Mustafa Kemal Akman got a free kick in the 59th minute. A hard shot 67 in the game by Hilmi Serafet from a close distance when the talented Frits Lenoir managed to make a qualified save. Indiana University's players were relieved. 67 minutes into the game, Mustafa Kemal Akman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Indiana University's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kocaelispor the free kick. In the 79th minute Henrik Devold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frits Lenoir saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Indiana University made a substitution. Görkem Baloğlu replaced Yiğit Haşmetli. Mauri Johansson made a great header on Kocaelispor's corner, it was just that Indiana University's Frits Lenoir managed to reach the ball for a save. Kocaelispor played a much better game than Indiana University and deserved their victory. The Indiana University players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
