The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gilbert Harendarski scored 0-1 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gürbüz Tanfer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With his leg Ünal Akbel managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when Buldan FENERBAHÇE SK's Türker Bilginer fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ünal Akbel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Türker Bilginer in the 24th minute. İzzet Çelik blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ünal Akbel having to make a save. Gürbüz Tanfer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bora Han Öğün in the 33rd minute of play. When Bora Han Öğün came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the AtletikEdirne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bora Han Öğün couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute, Buldan FENERBAHÇE SK's Yıldırım Kalgay seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Yıldırım Kalgay the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Buldan FENERBAHÇE SK protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Yıldırım Kalgay had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.
