In the 4th minute of the match, Serafim Mangueira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sonny Alén was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 10th minute of the match Kent Drake sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sonny Alén skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Bornova's Hüseyin Rahmi Ortaçgil got a free kick in the 12th minute. After 13 played minutes Bornova got a freekick which was hit by Hüseyin Rahmi Ortaçgil. Bornova's Sonny Alén proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Bornova from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute of the match, Ahmet Haşim Çelikkan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Sonny Alén saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sonny Alén made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hayrettin Yaşam in the 21st minute of play. When Sarı kaya FK's Hayrettin Yaşam, in the 21st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Sarı kaya FK. In the 28th minute Kent Drake shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Alén saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serafim Mangueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Sonny Alén made a huge save. Çağlar Acabey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ahmet Ege Yalaz having to make a save. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Kamil Momodu sped through Sarı kaya FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ahmet Ege Yalaz. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kamil Momodu in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ahmet Ege Yalaz saved Sarı kaya FK from getting behind. In the 40th minute, Beyhan Oğuztüzün hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes into the match, Sarı kaya FK's goal looked a bit too open when Ahmet Nafiz Özilter came free, but Ahmet Ege Yalaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bornova's Beyhan Oğuztüzün got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Kent Drake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Sonny Alén tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Bornova were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sonny Alén took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hayrettin Yaşam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sonny Alén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmet Haşim Çelikkan in the 58th minute of the match. Hayrettin Yaşam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sarı kaya FK made a substitution. Isa Savage replaced Serafim Mangueira. After 63 played minutes Bornova got a freekick which was hit by Michal Setara. Ahmet Ege Yalaz made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Yusuf Bahadır Rahmet sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hayrettin Yaşam in the 82nd minute of play forced Bornova's goalkeeper Sonny Alén to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Bornova defense, Isa Savage kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sonny Alén. The Bornova fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sonny Alén should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Hayrettin Yaşam's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sonny Alén was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. In the 93rd minute, Hayrettin Yaşam got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
