The tension between the Khimki and the Elista players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th match minute, Khimki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aleksey Tarasov to maneuver through the defense. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Khimki's goal looked a bit too open when Efim Plugin came free, but Efim Merkulov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th match minute, Khimki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Pinchuk to maneuver through the defense. If Oleg Boyarinov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elista's Sidor Nemirov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oleg Boyarinov in the 29th minute of play. Sidor Nemirov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timofey Nikolaev, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the match, Khimki's goal looked a bit too open when Efim Plugin came free, but Efim Merkulov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Timofey Nikolaev came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Khimki fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Timofey Nikolaev couldn't finish the play. If Sergey Timohin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Efim Plugin might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Efim Merkulov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Efim Plugin ran back to his position shaking his head. With his leg Efim Merkulov managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Elista's Sergey Timohin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Yakov Chervotkin kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Sergey Timohin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Efim Merkulov. Khimki's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sergey Timohin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Khimki's Roman Pinchuk got a free kick in the 61st minute. Sidor Nemirov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oleg Boyarinov in the 64th minute of play. Oleg Boyarinov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Sidor Nemirov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Khimki's goal looked a bit too open when Sergey Timohin came free, but Efim Merkulov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
