The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Danila Merkulov's late challenge caught a FC Strogino's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danila Merkulov helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC Strogino booed when Ivanovo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danila Merkulov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evgeniy Konenkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maksim Krivonogov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Timofey Kozyukov to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Ivanovo FC's zone, Stepan Malorodov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aleksandr Lobanovskiy came out of the goal and Stepan Malorodov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 57th minute, Timofey Kozyukov reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Evgeniy Konenkov. The goal made the score 0-1. Evgeniy Konenkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timofey Kozyukov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 67 minutes, Evgeniy Konenkov successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the FC Strogino defense, Maksim Krivonogov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evgeniy Konenkov. The FC Strogino fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evgeniy Konenkov should have stopped the shot. Maksim Krivonogov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evgeniy Konenkov having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timofey Kozyukov in the 75th minute of play forced FC Strogino's goalkeeper Evgeniy Konenkov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76thth minute of the game Timofey Kozyukov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Strogino's Evgeniy Konenkov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Maksim Krivonogov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Timofey Kozyukov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evgeniy Konenkov having to interfere. With a little luck, FC Strogino's Evgeniy Konenkov got control of the ball when Maksim Krivonogov tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Ivanovo FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Strogino.
