Iosif Kosterkin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maksim Akinfeev in the 4th minute of play. FC Nalchik's Iosif Kosterkin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maksim Akinfeev in the 7th minute of play. In the 11thth minute of the game Vitaliy Butyrskiy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Saint Petersburg's Boris Lomonosov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 12 played minutes Saint Petersburg got a freekick which was hit by Eduard Ayushiev. In the 20th minute, Eduard Ayushiev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute Vitaliy Butyrskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boris Lomonosov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valentin Antonov hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Vitaliy Butyrskiy managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Nalchik's supporters rose to their feet, but Vitaliy Butyrskiy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boris Lomonosov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 34 minutes into the match, Saint Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Sergey Yakushev came free, but Boris Lomonosov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Nalchik's Vitaliy Butyrskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Sergey Yakushev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iosif Kosterkin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Saint Petersburg's zone, Yuliy Kopylenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boris Lomonosov came out of the goal and Yuliy Kopylenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Saint Petersburg's Boris Lomonosov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitaliy Butyrskiy in the 101st minute of play. FC Nalchik were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
