The supporters of F.C. Vaslui booed when Marinesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ionuț Achiriloaie didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matei Şteflea in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sever Zoreanu saved Marinesti from getting behind. 25 minutes into the match, Marinesti's goal looked a bit too open when Matei Şteflea came free, but Sever Zoreanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute, Mihnea Bărboianu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, Costică Chitila had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sever Zoreanu. Marinesti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Costică Chitila was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, F.C. Vaslui's Nechifor Zdrobiş got a free kick in the 36th minute. Vaslui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Costică Chitila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matei Şteflea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Sever Zoreanu made a huge save.
