An unexpectedly hard shot by Nechifor Crăciunaș in the 47th minute of play forced OLIMPIA URLATI's goalkeeper Valer Micescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vojko Torkar made a kick off. In the 86th minute, Costel Loghin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Valer Micescu made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Nechifor Crăciunaș sent off a good shot on target. Jean-Paul Beuneker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabin Arotăriței, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. OLIMPIA URLATI had played much better football throughout.
