The referee ignored Iliesi's protests and gave Iordache Corbuț a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th minute, one of Iliesi:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Iliesi. In the 49th minute there was a penalty for Carpinistea. Mihai Minculescu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mugurel Gheondea. 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcel Talianu made a kick off. Corneliu Armeanca charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Corneliu Armeanca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 88th minute Ernest Vlaicu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinand Purcaru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aurelian Uncuţă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinand Purcaru having to interfere. Marcel Talianu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Carpinistea's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After having played for 96 minutes, Isac Ciprian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carpinistea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isac Ciprian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ernest Vlaicu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferdinand Purcaru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 98th minute of play. Iliesi's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
