Răzvan Onete received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Toader Ilinca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nechifor Prislop came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Steaua Bucuresti's Aurelian Ţopescu. But to his dismay, Aurelian Ţopescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Rimetea FCM's goal looked a bit too open when Avram Cutean came free, but Nechifor Prislop reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute Ovidiu Muslea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Prislop saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Viorel Găvan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nechifor Prislop took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelian Ţopescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 36th minute by Ionel Sârbu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Steaua Bucuresti's Toader Ilinca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Răzvan Onete in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Răzvan Onete got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Răzvan Onete in the 47th minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Toader Ilinca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ionel Sârbu to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Anton Tolea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rimetea FCM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Steaua Bucuresti the free kick. Aurelian Ţopescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Nechifor Prislop made a huge save. Toader Ilinca came out of the goal and Răzvan Onete tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th minute, Ionel Sârbu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rimetea FCM fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After 72 minutes of play Rimetea FCM's Anton Tolea was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Rimetea FCM's Anton Tolea got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Nechifor Prislop made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidiu Muslea in the 74th minute of play. A collision led to Rimetea FCM getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Laurențiu Moșoiu hit a great ball. Nechifor Prislop showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidiu Muslea, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Nechifor Prislop took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ovidiu Muslea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Olimpiu Paraschiv managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rimetea FCM's supporters rose to their feet, but Olimpiu Paraschiv was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Toader Ilinca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rimetea FCM's Nechifor Prislop proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Rimetea FCM from getting a goal against them. Codruț Hârtopanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
