The audience thought a goal was coming when Teddy Wejlebjerg got free with Lucian Dobrescu in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sorin Octavian kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Doru Opriș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucian Dobrescu having to interfere. Lucian Dobrescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doru Opriș, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucian Dobrescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teddy Wejlebjerg in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezar Durbac in the 20th minute of play forced FCP Ploiesti's goalkeeper Ciprian Pitiș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the match, FCP Ploiesti's goal looked a bit too open when Călin Boc came free, but Ciprian Pitiș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute Iordache Pamfil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciprian Pitiș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC VOIA's Lucian Dobrescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doru Opriș in the 32nd minute of play. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doru Opriș to make the kick off. A collision led to FCP Ploiesti getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Octav Frățilă hit a great ball. Ciprian Pitiș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelian Cândroveanu in the 61st minute of the match. Cătălin Petre kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Teddy Wejlebjerg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucian Dobrescu having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teddy Wejlebjerg in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lucian Dobrescu saved FC VOIA from getting behind. 69 minutes into the game, FCP Ploiesti's Doru Opriș nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lucian Dobrescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 79th minute Teddy Wejlebjerg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucian Dobrescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
