Virgil Joanță was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 11 minutes into the match. If Pompiliu Trifu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Petre Apostol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of FC Gabi Mutu booed when Vieru UFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiberiu Mantoiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iosif Murgu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of FC Gabi Mutu booed when Vieru UFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiberiu Mantoiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Gabi Mutu's Cornel Nestor quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Sorin Saşca, made in the 37th minute of the game. When Edgar Şteţ came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the FC Gabi Mutu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Şteţ couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 52nd minute, Edgar Şteţ got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 61 minutes into the match, Liviu Mitruț had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Codruț Joldea. FC Gabi Mutu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Liviu Mitruț was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Codruț Joldea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liviu Mitruț, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pompiliu Trifu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Iosif Murgu came out and tried to block the shot, but Pompiliu Trifu slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 75th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vieru UFC's zone, Petre Apostol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iosif Murgu came out of the goal and Petre Apostol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vieru UFC's goalkeeper Iosif Murgu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 89th minute of the match Petruț Dichiseanu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Codruț Joldea skillfully saved the ball. 90 minutes into the match, FC Gabi Mutu's goal looked a bit too open when Liviu Mitruț came free, but Codruț Joldea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute Liviu Mitruț shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Codruț Joldea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgar Şteţ fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iosif Murgu having to interfere. FC Gabi Mutu's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
