Stelian Surdilă might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Costin Stăniloaie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stelian Surdilă ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Codrin Plopșor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marina's supporters rose to their feet, but Codrin Plopșor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Costin Stăniloaie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Lilieci's goalkeeper Costin Stăniloaie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 46 minutes into the game, Dacian Panaiteanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Lilieci's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marina the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of FC Lilieci:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Marina:s goal. FC Lilieci:s Costin Stăniloaie showed great skill when he stopped Adam Todea:s penalty. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Irinel Vrejiu made a kick off. When Nicu Patrichi came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the FC Lilieci fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicu Patrichi couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stelian Surdilă in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Costin Stăniloaie saved FC Lilieci from getting behind. 96 minutes into the match, FC Lilieci's goal looked a bit too open when Codrin Plopșor came free, but Costin Stăniloaie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
