Lucian Arseanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Netto having to interfere. 9 minutes into the match, Rusetul's goal looked a bit too open when Lucian Arseanu came free, but Luizão Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Netto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucian Arseanu in the 10th minute of the match. Sulpusiu CSS's Radu Hirean proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Sulpusiu CSS from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Cornel Baciu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luizão Netto was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Radu Hirean stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manole Jugănaru's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The supporters of Rusetul booed when Sulpusiu CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calistrat Negrițoiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Manole Jugănaru made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ovidiu Patrichi in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Radu Hirean saved Sulpusiu CSS from getting behind. After 62 minutes, Calistrat Negrițoiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sulpusiu CSS and the Rusetul players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th minute of the match, Lucian Arseanu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Luizão Netto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sulpusiu CSS's supporters rose to their feet, but Cornel Baciu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luizão Netto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Rusetul's zone, Lucian Arseanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizão Netto came out of the goal and Lucian Arseanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Radu Hirean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manole Jugănaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Calistrat Negrițoiu got his second yellow card in the match during the 92nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Sulpusiu CSS getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Calistrat Negrițoiu hit a great ball. In the 94th minute, Manole Jugănaru ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Radu Hirean was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
