The Oţelul Galaţi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marin Budulea should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Barbalani CS getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Horea Porumboiu hit a great ball. Codrin Mantu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marin Budulea firmly grabbed it by the left post. Remus Oargă blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Costică Moga having to make a save. Oţelul Galaţi's Marin Budulea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horea Porumboiu in the 27th minute of play. Marin Budulea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Constantin Romanescu in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rdth minute of the game Flavius Zăraşcu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barbalani CS's Costică Moga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Codrin Mantu got free with Marin Budulea in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Oţelul Galaţi defense, Codrin Mantu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marin Budulea. The Oţelul Galaţi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marin Budulea should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Codrin Mantu got free with Marin Budulea in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 46 minutes, Flavius Zăraşcu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oţelul Galaţi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavius Zăraşcu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Constantin Romanescu to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Barbalani CS's Codrin Mantu got a free kick in the 51st minute. Remus Oargă was extremely unlucky when he, in the 52nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 55 minutes into the game, Horea Porumboiu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. After 94 minutes, Remus Taşcu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oţelul Galaţi and the Barbalani CS players grew even worse after the yellow card.
